Last weekend was a pretty banner weekend. Not only did I get to take a much-anticipated ferry ride to a quaint little island, but I also got to meet up with a dear friend for brunch at Pike Place Market.
Pike Place is one of those classic Seattle spots that I tend to frequent when friends are visiting, but forget to venture to on any old weekend. So seeing it on Sunday, just for the sake of it, was a treat. Fresh carts of tulips and vegetables lined the cobblestone streets, the infamous fish company sang while tossing salmon to shoppers, tourists added bubblegum to the gum wall and climbed atop the lucky golden pig, and I was even able to pass Beecher’s without going in for their legendary mac and cheese… like I said, banner weekend. : )
It made me excited for the next time friends are in town — to sit in the nearby park with ice cream cones, or to grab coffee across the street at the first Starbucks — and also thankful to have these local favorites just a few minutes away in the mean time.
