One New Thing: Seattle Kayaking

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

This past weekend, a group of friends and I went kayaking through the Puget Sound. We rented a few kayaks through Northwest Outdoor Center, and set sail past Gas Works Park, through the Montlake Bridge, all the way to the University of Washington Arboretum full of lily pads, wooden bridges and baby ducklings. No joke; so far the potential highlight of 2014 was seeing a momma duck surrounded by about six ducklings who were so tiny that they were waddling across lily pads to keep up with her. DUCKINGS. WADDLING. ON LILY PADS. Just wanted to make sure you caught that mental image. (: We pulled up to a park and shared a picnic lunch, then set sail back through South Lake Union. All of us were beginners, so it was a leisurely, fun, new way to spend an afternoon — one that I hope becomes much less ‘new’ throughout the summer.

P.S. This is part of a series where each month we try One New Thing. Past posts include hot yoga, rock climbing, glassblowing and more.

Love the last photo. Also, why aren’t there photos of the baby ducks on lily pads? : )

I tried but they turned out so teeny tiny in the pictures, they were hard to see! You’ll just have to come with me next time 😉
