Weekday mornings, I’m all about breakfasts that are easy, filling and healthy. I want something that isn’t going to leave me hungry and falling off the edge of a sugar high a few hours later; something that packs a big nutrient punch without requiring an entire morning of cooking. This smoothie fits the bill in all of those areas. It’s made with antioxidant-rich berries and bananas, protein-dense yogurt, omega-rich flaxseed, and immunity-boosting wheat grass. Just five ingredients, but a hearty and healthy start to the day. The biggest flavor players are the bananas, berries and yogurt; the flaxseed and wheat grass add major health benefits but are hardly noticeable taste-wise. On mornings when I need breakfast to take me even further through the day, I add a little bit of dry oats or Kashi GoLean Crunch! cereal for extra heartiness. Cheers!
Ingredients (1 serving)
1/2 c. berries
1/2 c. vanilla yogurt (I use plain for less sugar, but vanilla adds sweetness)
1 T. ground flaxseed
1 T. wheat grass
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. ice
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend. Top with dry oats or Kashi GoLean Crunch! cereal as desired (my favorite combo is the Toasted Berry Crumble).
